3 ways hypopressives can relieve prolapse

"I've got a prolapse - will hypopressives help?"

.

This is a question I get asked a lot by women who have often already had focused pelvic floor treatment.

.

If this is you and pelvic floor exercises haven't created the changes you were hoping for, you might be feeling anxious or even considering surgery.

.

So, if you have a prolapse, how can hypopressive exercises help?

.

Here are 3 ways hypopressives bring symptom relief for prolapse:

.

1. They DECONGEST the pelvic area: One of the reasons your symptoms can be on your mind a lot of the time is because it can be really uncomfortable or feel heavy - I know, I've been there. Hypopressive exercises relieve symptoms of heaviness, by stimulating the lymphatics, reducing feelings of discomfort, strengthening the deep pelvic floor and core muscles - whilst also targeting and relieving symptoms of constipation.

.

2. They CREATE LIFT: The Hypopressive breathing technique lifts your pelvic floor and core, drawing them inwards and upwards in a powerful, automatic contraction. This brings amazing changes in your pelvic floor (and waistline too) - increasing tone and strength, and helping your pelvic floor and core function better in everyday life. Physically, many women report a reduction in grade of prolapse or bulge. And improvements in your quality of life and comfort are just one of the ways we'll be measuring your progress through the programme.

.

3. AUTOMATIC PELVIC FLOOR FUNCTION: So instead of focusing on the muscles you can squeeze yourself, Hypopressive exercises focuses on muscles you can't squeeze yourself. Takes a bit of getting used to I know BUT automatic reflex function is the primary way our pelvic floor and core muscles work - so we need to get these involuntary muscle fibres firing better in the background.
